Quick trip down memory lane: Papa's Grand Marquis. This illustration is based on a real photo. "My father was a whiz at packing up an overstuffed station-wagon," says director Motty Landau. In Dad's words: "Men Darf Visin vi Azoi tzi Packen" (you gotta know how to pack). Check out the lefthand page to see his wife's grandfather, a saintly man. (His great grandkids are the Marcus Brother duo of 8th Day fame. They released a song in tribute of him and his shtetl, Krenitz.) YouTube Link here.
The Marvelous Ms. Maidel. Photo references were collected from family albums, old bookstores and a website called Google. (Wait till some family members find out that they share a moodboard with Saddam...)
Our creative director drew reference from the connection he had with his Zeidy (lovable grandpa in Yiddish). "He was the loveliest person alive," Motty says. On a more serious note: He was a hero. Leaped off moving trains, survived the Holocaust, and built a family anew. May he rest in peace.
The nostagic pull of this campaign invokes that warm and fuzzy feeling for an audience of thousands.
